The analysis

Know where you stand.

Your contracts and your assets in one picture. Ordered by the fixed rules of DIN 77230, combined with your wishes and ideas. The result is not the next product, but your analysis report as a basis for critically discussing every further recommendation.

Background

Why it takes an analysis of its own.

Contracts from three phases of life, two folders, one gut feeling. Something is duplicated, something is missing, and nobody has ever put it together into one picture. What you actually want is simple. To know where you stand.

Anyone just starting out knows the other side of it. Everyone tells you something different about what comes first, and at the end of every conversation there is an application form on the table.

Conventional advice rarely delivers exactly this picture. It is paid for at the point of sale, not for the overview. That is why the analysis there is a detour on the way to the sale, and you feel it as pressure.

The benefit

How do you benefit from your analysis?

You get recommendations everywhere. From the bank, the insurer, a colleague, the next intermediary. Each sounds plausible, and you cannot judge any of them as long as you have no yardstick.

The analysis is that yardstick. For each topic it shows what you need and what you have, ordered by what matters first.

From then on every recommendation faces one simple test. Does it close a gap on your list, and is it due now? If not, it can wait, and anyone who wants to sell you something first has to get past your picture.

1

A complete picture instead of a gut feeling

Protection, provision and assets in one document, with figures instead of opinions.

2

An objective yardstick that no provider built itself

Sales organisation A analyses one way, sales organisation B another, and at the end there is always a reason why you need something new. The standard determines the status quo by fixed rules, the same for every household, in an order that does not depend on selling. That gives anyone just starting out an idea of where to begin. A target value for every topic, your actual value next to it, and you see the gap yourself.

3

Your ideas and wishes complete the overall picture

The standard provides the status quo. What you have in mind is added, even if it deviates from the standard. You do not have to live, save or buy contracts according to a standard.

4

No product in the result

The analysis assesses needs and brings your status quo and your wishes together. It does not recommend, arrange or sell any financial products. Which conclusions you draw from it and which recommendations follow is something we are happy to discuss separately, after the analysis.

No analysis, no recommendation →
5

The result belongs to you

With this analysis you can go to any provider and continue advice and support there. Because it is standardised, anyone can work with it. It ties you to no one, not even to me.

The standard

42 topics, three levels, one order.

DIN 77230 “Basic Financial Analysis for Private Households” is the first DIN standard for the financial sector. Consumer protection bodies, academia and the industry developed it together with the German Institute for Standardisation. It was first published in 2019 and last revised in March 2026. It defines which data is collected, how the target values are calculated and the order in which a household’s 42 financial topics are ranked. That order has three levels.

Level 1 Securing basic financial needs Health insurance, liability, loss of earning capacity at basic level, statutory long-term care insurance, death cover at basic level, solvency, retirement provision at basic level, buildings insurance.
Level 2 Maintaining your standard of living Loss of earning capacity in full, death cover in full, liquidity reserve, retirement provision in full, care costs, home contents, legal expenses, children’s education.
Level 3 Improving your standard of living Equity for owner-occupied residential property and further individual goals.

The process

From the introductory call to the full picture.

From the first appointment to the finished picture there are six steps. Three of them are conversations, one is your questionnaire, two are my desk work.

01

Introductory call

Free of charge, 45 to 60 minutes by video call. We get to know each other, talk about what you have in mind and how I work, and see whether working together is a fit. After that you receive a full offer. Once you accept and pay the deposit, the analysis begins.

02

Intake meeting (optional)

Are there still questions open after the introductory call? Can you find the time for a short intake meeting before the process begins? What is still unclear to you? What information is still missing? Where do you need support? Have we covered everything? Can the process begin?

03

Data collection

You fill in the topic-specific questionnaires and provide your documents on existing contracts, investment accounts and bank accounts.

04

Evaluation

I prepare the evaluation. From your information I determine the target value for each topic according to the rules of the standard, and from your contracts and accounts the actual value. The comparison shows for each topic whether there is a gap and how large it is.

05

Summary

I bring everything together in your analysis report. It contains all the important information as well as the 42 topics in the order set by the standard, each with its target and actual value.

06

Walk-through and handover

In a final meeting together we go through your analysis in full, topic by topic. You see your status quo and can tell at a glance where target and actual differ. We are happy to clear up your questions on the spot. You leave the meeting with a basis for a clear picture of where you want to start or carry on.

Frequently asked questions

In a nutshell.

Why does the analysis cost money when others give it away?

An analysis given away is not free. It is paid for, just not by you but by the next sale. That ties every recommendation to selling.

With me, the analysis is a product in its own right with its own price. It ends without a product, and it is the way into working together, whether you already have contracts or are just starting out. Why I recommend nothing and look after nothing without an analysis is explained in the post No analysis, no recommendation. How many hours go into the work before a contract is signed is explained in the post Why I don’t offer free advice.

Do I have to buy anything after the analysis?

No. The analysis does not recommend, arrange or sell any financial products. It shows where you stand and what comes first. Which conclusions and recommendations follow from it is something we are happy to discuss separately, after the analysis. What is already covered stays as it is.

How long is the analysis valid?

Officially there is no expiry date. With me, the analysis is valid for three years. Over three years, circumstances, situation, goals and wishes change. The picture then has to be redrawn, and the analysis is prepared again. Anyone who is in regular contact with me thanks to the Service Concept never needs that. Through the ongoing exchange and close cooperation I record every change as it happens, and in the annual review we check the full picture. The analysis stays current because we keep it current together.
